Borealo wasn't founded to disrupt an industry. It was founded because we were tired of disposable furniture and the constant pressure to redecorate according to seasonal trends.

The Problem with Fast Furniture

The average piece of fast furniture lasts less than seven years before it ends up in a landfill. The materials—often particleboard and toxic glues—aren't designed to be repaired. More than that, the aesthetic is often generic, lacking the soul and tactile warmth that makes a house feel like a home.

Our Approach

We look to Nordic design principles not just for their clean lines, but for their philosophy. In climates with long, harsh winters, the interior environment becomes crucial to well-being. It demands natural light, warm textures (wood, wool, leather), and uncluttered space.

• Material Honesty: Wood should look and feel like wood. We don't hide natural grain variations; we celebrate them.
• Proportion over Decoration: A piece should be beautiful because of its shape and how it relates to the human body, not because of added ornamentation.
• Repairability: Joints should be accessible, and finishes should be maintainable. We use natural oils and waxes that can be reapplied, rather than plastic lacquers that chip and cannot be fixed.

Sourcing & Sustainability

Sustainability isn't a marketing angle for us; it's an inherent requirement of building things meant to last generations. We source our timber from FSC-certified European forests, prioritizing slow-growing oak and ash for their dense, durable grain.
